I’ve been writing essays for a while now, and the more I write, the more I seem to probe at the peculiar business of being an essayist; not so much in the writing of the essays - though I do seem to have a lot to say about that - but in the thinking, noticing, wondering and occasionally getting things wrong, side of things.
So I’ve started this little place for letters to other essayists.
Nothing grand. No schedule. No particular promise of wisdom.
Just an occasional letter, and perhaps a note, because there seems to be a space for a thought where only another essayist might wander, and understand.
Sometimes it will be a nag of doubt that trails back to something I’ve written elsewhere. Sometimes it may be no more than a thought that hasn’t yet found its proper shape — I’m a fan of the unfinished question.
But the idea is simple enough: to have a conversation.
So — hello.
I’m glad you’ve stopped by.
David
